Mai-Aini, 4 September 2012 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Mai-Aini sub-zone indicated that it is exerting endeavors towards prevention of malaria infection during the current rainy season.
Stating that an insecticide targeting mosquito is sprayed in households twice a year in addition to the distribution of impregnated bed nets, Mr. Tesfalidet Tewolde from the branch office pointed out that villages in the locality have been carrying out weekly popular undertaking as regards doing away with ditches.
Mr. Haile Ogbamichael, head of the branch office, on his part stated that seminars have been organized on monthly basis with a view to enhancing community awareness to that end, while the community hospital there has been making contingency preparation in this regard.
Meanwhile, a training course as regards prevention of malaria was organized for community health representatives, Area administrators and health center heads in the locality.
Mr. Habte Yihdego, head of social services in the sub-zone, called on the trainees to play significant role in raising popular awareness regarding the disease and sustaining community initiatives towards combating it through ensuring environmental hygiene.
