The inhabitants of Nefasit and Mai-Habar Administrative areas said that underground water catchments built through popular undertaking have enriched water resource in the area. They further explained that the water demand for humans and agriculture could be met, and thus their livelihood is witnessing improvement. Ginda, 12 September 2012 – The inhabitants of Nefasit and Mai-Habar Administrative areas said that underground water catchments built through popular undertaking have enriched water resource in the area. They further explained that the water demand for humans and agriculture could be met, and thus their livelihood is witnessing improvement.
Among the inhabitants, Rev. Gebregziabher Hailemariam, Ms. Nigisti Yohanes and Mr. Seid Omar stated that the impact of the accomplishment made to this end attests to their effort to back up the national development drive.
They also indicated that such availability of water is significant to livestock wandering from the vicinities of Foro, Massawa, Ginda and Gelalo to the area.
Mr. Ahmed Zeile from the Administration of Mai-Habar Administrative area commended the initiative the inhabitants are demonstrating as regards conservation of water, and called on them to practice judicious utilization of water.
Reports indicate that 4 underground water catchments have already been built in the localities, while an additional one is nearing finalization.
