The inhabitants of Anseba region said that environmental conservation programs being implemented in Wasdemba and Deki-Andu Administrative areas have become exemplary. Keren, 18 September 2012 – The inhabitants of Anseba region said that environmental conservation programs being implemented in Wasdemba and Deki-Andu Administrative areas have become exemplary. They further explained that the active role of the inhabitants of both Administrative areas as regards forestry and wildlife has witnessed visible impact, besides the sustainable accomplishment in the domain of soil and water conservation.

Reports indicate that the inhabitants of Wasdemba and Deki-Andu Administrative areas could ensure food security and sustain supply of animal feed on the basis of environmental conservation endeavors, including the establishment of different wood enclosures.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Girmatsion Tewoldemedhin and Mr. Woldeab Zerizgi indicated that there exist diverse indigenous trees in the locality which is witnessing reforestation, and thereby becoming the habitat for various wild animals. Moreover, they expressed conviction that such development is vital in the development of tourism, and called on the inhabitants to sustain their active role to that end.

Mr. Tewolde Fisehatsion from Deki-Andu Area Administration pointed out that serious punitive action is taken on those who dare to fell trees, and lauded the friendly attitude of the inhabitants as regards environmental conservation.
