A Junior school has been built in the port city of Assab at more than 7.5 million Nakfa. The Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region stated that the school which comprises 12 class rooms, offices, staff room, library and other facilities is due to open with the start of the 2012/2013 academic year. The Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region stated that the school which comprises 12 class rooms, offices, staff room, library and other facilities is due to open with the start of the 2012/2013 academic year.

Stating that the school is accessible transport wise, Mr. Otban Mohammed, administration and finance head in the branch office, explained that it is expected to foster classroom management in line with the availability of ample accommodation and facilities.

Mr. Tesfamariam Yohanes, head of project management and engineering services in the regional Administration, disclosed on his part that the construction of the school was accomplished by Musa-Ali Construction Company.

Among the residents of Assab, Mr. Mohammed Amin called for reinforcement of parental role in education. Abdullahi Ahmed, a student, expressed conviction that the teaching-learning process would assume conducive environment in line with the setup of the school taking into account the warm climate in the area.

There exist 4 pre-schools, 6 elementary schools, 2 junior schools and 1 high school in Assab city, according to reports.
