Bek’ar village inhabitants registering improvement of livelihood through environmental conservation

The inhabitants of Bek’ar village, Senafe sub-zone, stated that they are in a position of improving their livelihood through effective implementation of environmental conservation activities pertaining to forestry and wildlife, as well as water springs. Pointing out that the locality is rich in indigenous trees, streams, waterfalls and grasslands, they explained that the village administration vis-à-vis the prevailing traditional norm to this end is playing vital role as regards conservation and judicious utilization of such resources.

Senafe, 19 September 2012 – The inhabitants of Bek’ar village, Senafe sub-zone, stated that they are in a position of improving their livelihood through effective implementation of environmental conservation activities pertaining to forestry and wildlife, as well as water springs. Pointing out that the locality is rich in indigenous trees, streams, waterfalls and grasslands, they explained that the village administration vis-à-vis the prevailing traditional norm to this end is playing vital role as regards conservation and judicious utilization of such resources.

Among the inhabitants of the village, Mr. Saleh Ismael and Mr. Ismael Mohammed indicated that chopping a branch of tree is entailing serious punishment in tune with traditional law. They further indicated that no harm has been observed on humans and livestock from wild animals in the area including leopards.
Bek’ar village is located at the bottom of Mt. Soira.
