Reports indicated that commendable farming activity is being undertaken in the integrated Tesenei-Ali-Gidir Agricultural Development Project in coincidence with the rainy season. Tesenei, 20 September 2012 – Reports indicated that commendable farming activity is being undertaken in the integrated Tesenei-Ali-Gidir Agricultural Development Project in coincidence with the rainy season.
Among the farmers, Mr. Tekie Atewebirhan, Mr. Abdalla Ekud and Ms. Letebirhan Zewde indicated that a dam within the project has impounded ample amount of water, thus securing the capacity to expand the scope of farming. A promising farming accomplishment could be made thanks to the availability of a diversion canal and availability of the necessary machinery, they elaborated.
Mr. Yemane Gebretinsae, the project manager, explained that the scheme which would benefit about 10,000 nationals from Tesenei, Aligidir, Telata-Asher, Sitmo and Enjihai was revitalized in 2009, and that more than 3,500 hectares have been cultivated with cotton, sunflower, maize and other crops.
