The Ministry of Energy and Mines stated that the Third Mining Conference would be conducted from 2 to 6 October in Asmara city with a view to promoting sustainable exploration and mining activities in the country and the Arabian-Nubian Shield region in general. Asmara, 27 September 2012 – The Ministry of Energy and Mines stated that the Third Mining Conference would be conducted from 2 to 6 October in Asmara city with a view to promoting sustainable exploration and mining activities in the country and the Arabian-Nubian Shield region in general. It further pointed out that the event is due to have an impact in bringing together mineral explorers, academicians, mining experts, investors, service providers and regulators, and thereby share experience and discuss the sustainable development of the minerals sector in Eritrea.
Reports indicate that the event would provide a good opportunity for participants to gather valuable information as regards the recent views on the evolution of the geology of the region and new techniques, as well as approaches in exploration and mining for metallic and non-metallic minerals, besides dealing with social, environmental, financial and regulatory issues. It is also intended to enhance regional cooperation and coordination on the basis of promoting the Arabian-Nubian Shield, the reports added.
Envoys of various nations, mining experts, as well as new and mining companies in operation would take part in the conference that would also feature excursions to mining and other significant sites in Eritrea.
