Public pharmacy opens in Massawa

The residents of the port city of Massawa expressed satisfaction with the opening of a public pharmacy. Massawa, 29 September 2012 – The residents of the port city of Massawa expressed satisfaction with the opening of a public pharmacy.

Among the residents, Mr. Ali Idris and Ms. Letebirhan Tesfayohanes said that the pharmacy is due to play significant role in lowering the price of drugs.

Mr. Tesfasilasie Gedel, manager of the pharmacy, pointed out that it was opened with a view to ensuring drug supply at fair price, and that the initiative would further focus on other cities.

Dr. Yohanes Tekeste, medical director at the Health Ministry’s branch in the Northern Red Sea region, stated that the public pharmacy was launched through the collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Municipal Administration of Massawa.

Ms. Fana Tesfamariam, Mayor of Massawa, said that the opening of the pharmacy involved sober selection of conducive environment.
