Keren: Seminar conducted with a view to raising public awareness on communicable diseases and law

A seminar was organized for members of the Health and Education Ministries, as well as police forces and national associations in Keren city with a view to raising public awareness regarding communicable diseases and law. Keren, 2 October 2012 – A seminar was organized for members of the Health and Education Ministries, as well as police forces and national associations in Keren city with a view to raising public awareness regarding communicable diseases and law. The seminar involving various resource persons dealt with the issues of law, criminal acts by underage youth, underage marriage, sexual abuse and abortion, in addition to communicable diseases.

Dr. Kesetebirhan Solomon, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, explained that the Ministry has been stepping up endeavors to enhance popular awareness as regards various health issues, and that ensuring the desired behavioral change among youths is among the cherished goals to this end.

Mr. Zecarias Ogbasilasie, head of administration and finance in the branch office, on his part called on the participants to extend a helping hand in endeavors to attain the desired popular awareness. He further called for the strengthening of parental role along with that of the pertinent government institutions in this regard.

The participants of the seminar put forth views regarding several issues.
