Eritrean Olympian athlete Zerisenai Tadesse today won the men’s race at the 20th IAAF World Half Marathon championship which took place in Kavarna, Bulgaria. Zerisenai, holder of the Marathon world record, won his 5th world championship title with 60 minutes 19 seconds. Asmara, 6 October 2012 – Eritrean Olympian athlete Zerisenai Tadesse today won the men’s race at the 20th IAAF World Half Marathon championship which took place in Kavarna, Bulgaria. Zerisenai, holder of the Marathon world record, won his 5th world championship title with 60 minutes 19 seconds.
Deressa Chimsa from Ethiopia came out second with 60 minutes 51 seconds, while the third place went to Kenya’s John Mwangagi with 61 minutes 01 seconds, and Eritrean athletes Tewolde Estifanos and Kiflom Siyum got the 9th and 10th ranks respectively.
Zerisenai won a $ 30,000 award, while Eritrea stood second world champion succeeding Kenya.
