Farmers in the sub-zones of Serejeka and Gala-Nefhi express readiness to back up national development drive

Farmers from 59 villages in Serejeka and Gala-Nefhi sub-zones, Central region, expressed readiness to back up the national development drive. They made the pledge at a seminar they conducted in which Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, the regional Administrator, was present.

Asmara, 9 October 2012 – Farmers from 59 villages in Serejeka and Gala-Nefhi sub-zones, Central region, expressed readiness to back up the national development drive. They made the pledge at a seminar they conducted in which Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, the regional Administrator, was present.

Pointing out that development programs implemented in the region have given rise to commendable outcome, Mr. Kahsai stressed the need of carrying out soil and water conservation activities in the future with major focus on the areas where underground water spots have been identified. He further explained that the Administration is exerting endeavors to give impetus to modern mode of farming with a view to ensuring higher efficiency in agricultural production, and called for further focus pertaining to effective utilization of water resources.

Moreover, the Administrator recommended that allotting 10% of farmlands for cultivation of green feed would play significant role in boosting dairy production.
