Maternity and child mortality rate reduces in Habero Tsaeda

With the coordinated campaign conducted by the village health committees and  health professionals in Habero-Tsaeda, Habero sub-zone, maternity and child mortality rate and the prevalence of harmful cultural practices have been tremendously reduced, Mr. Yonas Habtemariam, assistant nurse at the Habero Tsa’eda health center, explained. Habero, 14 October 2012- With the coordinated campaign conducted by the village health committees and  health professionals in Habero-Tsaeda, Habero sub-zone, maternity and child mortality rate and the prevalence of harmful cultural practices have been tremendously reduced, Mr. Yonas Habtemariam, assistant nurse at the Habero Tsa’eda health center, explained.

He told Erina that the health center provides service to over 15 thousand inhabitants of Mezret, Habero Tsa’ed and Tselim, as well as Gebgeb administrative areas and because this year an Ambulance has been assigned their problem has been alleviated.

He further expressed that with the rigorous campaign and health assistance provided by the village health committees, harmful cultural health practices have been reduced and that the delivery unit has been instrumental in alleviating the existed challenges.

Mr. Yonas who said that their main objective is to ensure health condition of the society and especially of that of the mother and child, indicated that last winter 500 impregnated mosquito nets have been distributed and pre and post natal services have ensued encouraging result.
