Goluj sub-zone: Seminar conducted for farmers regarding application of weedkillers

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region organized a seminar in Goluj calling on farmers in the sub-zone to properly apply weedkillers, and thereby avoiding their side effects on  human health and the environment. Goluj, 16 October 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region organized a seminar in Goluj calling on farmers in the sub-zone to properly apply weedkillers, and thereby avoiding their side effects on  human health and the environment.

Heading the seminar in which participation of Area Administrations and line Ministry branches was witnessed, Mr. Abrahaley Hailemichael from the regional branch office, explained the merits and demerits of weedkillers, and called  on the farmers to adhere to the use of standardized products vis-à-vis the advice of experts.

Mr. Red’e Bahlibi, head of economic development in Goluj sub-zone, on his part called on seminar participants to extend a helping hand towards blocking illegal import of such goods as the locality is susceptible to such instances due its location along the border area.
