A dam in Musha-Aig area fostering irrigation farming, Say inhabitants

The inhabitants of Musha-Aig village, Hamelmalo sub-zone, said that the dam in the area has fostered irrigation farming.

Hamelmalo, 18 October 2012 – The inhabitants of Musha-Aig village, Hamelmalo sub-zone, said that the dam in the area has fostered irrigation farming.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Hussein Mohammed Omar, Mr. Al-Amin Adem and Mr. Abdullahi Mohammed said that they still anticipate expanding the scope of farming potential as the dam has impounded ample amount of water during the rainy season. They also expressed satisfaction with the potable water supply in the locality and indicated that the availability of such resource vis-à-vis a number of social service facilities has encouraged community-based style of living.

Mr. Al-Amin Tahir, Acting head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, disclosed that an integrated farming project would be launched on10 hectares around the dam, and that the necessary research work has already been accomplished. He further called on farmers in the area to make judicious utilization of water resource.
