They made the statement at a meeting held with exemplary farmers, during which it was pointed out that impressive accomplishments are being registered nationwide as regards agricultural research.
Shambuko, 19 October 2012 – Agriculture experts from the Agricultural Research Site in Shambuko semi-urban center called on farmers in the sub-zone to work hard to boost production on the basis of select crops. They made the statement at a meeting held with exemplary farmers, during which it was pointed out that impressive accomplishments are being registered nationwide as regards agricultural research.
Mr. Mengisteab Gebrehiwet and Mr. Berhane Girmai, agronomy experts, explained that research conducted on sorghum, millet and pea varieties, as well as various oil crops has resulted in positive outcome, and called on farmers to become beneficiaries in line with the technical advice provided.
Among the farmers, Mr. Firehiwet Araya and Mr. Asfaha Gile voiced conviction that they could raise awareness upon the exposure visit to the research site, and expressed readiness to become leading beneficiaries of such select crops.
Mr. Abubeker Mahmoud, Administrator of Shambuko sub-zone, indicated that commendable rain-fed farming activities have been accomplished in the locality, and called on farmers to enhance relations with agriculture professionals.
