Diversion canal in Fiza Agricultural Project playing vital role in improving soil quality

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Habero sub-zone indicated that the diversion canal in Fiza Integrated Agricultural Project, along Anseba River, is playing vital role as regards improving the Area’s soil quality which is rated to have higher salinity rate. Habero Tsaeda, 20 October 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Habero sub-zone indicated that the diversion canal in Fiza Integrated Agricultural Project, along Anseba River, is playing vital role as regards improving the Area’s soil quality which is rated to have higher salinity rate.

Accordingly, banana and mango farms in the project are reportedly in good state, and the project’s capacity would be expanded in line with the growing awareness of farmers regarding integrated irrigation farming.

Among the beneficiaries of the project, Mr. Mohammed-Idris Mohammed-Omar said that they would effectively utilize the available resources to extend farming capacity, and thereby attain the desired production level.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the inhabitants of Habero Tsaeda have become beneficiaries of potable water supply following the construction of a dam in the locality.
