The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Molqi sub-zone indicated that extensive afforestation as well as soil and water conservation undertaking has been accomplished in the locality on the basis of popular participation in which 6,800 nationals took part. It further explained that agriculture experts demonstrated active participation in the green campaign that also targeted enrichment of water resources.
Molqi, 22 October 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Molqi sub-zone indicated that extensive afforestation as well as soil and water conservation undertaking has been accomplished in the locality on the basis of popular participation in which 6,800 nationals took part. It further explained that agriculture experts demonstrated active participation in the green campaign that also targeted enrichment of water resources.
Mr. Woldeyesus Tekie, head of the branch office, disclosed that a seminar was organized for the inhabitants as regards soil and water conservation techniques, as well as wildlife management in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research Center and the Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region. Moreover, he pointed out that more than 2,000 tree seedlings have been planted in a researched enclosure, besides the construction of around 10,000 Km-long terraces and 230 cubic meters of water catchment walls.
The participants of the undertaking expressed satisfaction with the seminar, and said that they would enhance their role to this end.
