Dekemhare, 28 October 2012- The inhabitants of Gura’e renovated the road linking their village with Dekemhare that was damaged by flooding through popular campaign.
In the popular campaign in which around 400 people participated aided with machinery the renovated 10 km. road has now become conducive for pedestrians and vehicles.
Mr. Kidane Gebru, administrator of Gura’e, explained that on top of the physical participation of the inhabitants in renovating the road an expenditure of more than 50 thousand Nakfa has been made.
He further indicated that because the road is damaged by flooding every rainy season and that they are forced to renovate it every year. He also commended the assistance provided to them by the Dekemhare town administration.
From participants in the popular campaign, Mr. Asgedom Hailemichael explained that with the campaign conducted the road has now become conducive for vehicles and expressed resolve that they would make regular follow-up for the safety of the road.
Ms. Negisti Gebrezghiabier on her part indicated that a campaign conducted through popular initiative is always successful and that she is glad to see small and big vehicles moving without difficulty.
