Anseba region: SWP described a case in point as regards demonstration of hard work

Keren, 1 November 2012 – The Education Ministry’s branch in Anseba region indicated that the Summer Work Program (SWP) is a case in point in which hard work on the part of youths was demonstrated, besides the fact that it is an arena of exchange of experience for students. It made the statement at an assessment meeting.

Mr. Kifle Solomon from the branch office stated that 4,500 students and around 200 coordinators from the region participated in the previous SWP scheme that lasted for a month. Accordingly, 215,000 tree seedlings have been planted, while more than 86,000 Km-long terraces and 20,000 cubic meters of water catchment walls constructed, in addition to various accomplishments pertaining to renovation of dirt roads, television tax collection and follow-up of flourished trees, among others.

The participants of the meeting assessed that commendable integrated effort was demonstrated on the part of the Agriculture Ministry and sub-zonal administrations. They also put forth views regarding ways and means of reinforcing the SWP in the years ahead.
