A total of 1.1 million Nakfa has been extended to Eritrean National War-disabled Veterans Association (ENWVA) members in the Southern region by Association members residing in Oakland, US, Stuttgart, Germany, and Calgary, Canada. Mendefera, 2 November 2012 – A total of 1.1 million Nakfa has been extended to Eritrean National War-disabled Veterans Association (ENWVA) members in the Southern region by Association members residing in Oakland, US, Stuttgart, Germany, and Calgary, Canada.
A total of 110 members of the ENWVA who are carrying out livestock farming in the sub-zones of Mai-Mine, Areza, Adi-Kuala, Mendefera, Emni-Haili, Dekemhare, Tserona, Adi-Keih and Debarwa have become beneficiaries of 10,000 Nakfa each, according to the Association’s regional branch office in Mendefera city.
Mr. Tesfalidet Mengistu, head of the branch office, said that the support is a spring board to enhancement of the beneficiaries’ production capacity.
It is to be recalled that 85 ENWVA members engaged in fruits and vegetables farming recently became beneficiaries of 85 water pumps. Meanwhile, reports indicated that training as regards modern apicultural farming was organized for 80 Association members from the region, and that they would be provided with beehives and colonies.
Dr. Ogbazgi Kifle from the regional Administration called on the beneficiaries of the training to play due role in apicultural development in the region. Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, head of social service in the Southern region, on his part called on them to exploit the merits of the agricultural sector.
The trainees put forth views pertaining to several issues that would reinforce apicultural practice in the region.
