The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) has launched a micro-credit benefit scheme in the sub-zones of Elabered, Adi-Tekelezan and Keren with a view to paving the ground for women to improve their livelihood. Keren, 2 November 2012 – The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) has launched a micro-credit benefit scheme in the sub-zones of Elabered, Adi-Tekelezan and Keren with a view to paving the ground for women to improve their livelihood.
Ms. Tirhas Nirayo, coordinator of the project, indicated that 217 women have already become beneficiaries of a total of 650,000 Nakfa. One of the beneficiaries, Ms. Rahwa Tesfamariam, said that she would engage in livestock farming to improve her livelihood.
Likewise, Ms. Elsa Melikh and Ms. Fatina Suleiman pointed out that they would promote exchange of experience among them so as to demonstrate collective success.
