Application of solar energy fostering health service quality in Gash-Barka region: Report

The Ministry of Health indicated that application of solar energy has brought about positive impact in fostering quality of health service in Gash-Barka region.

Barentu, 5 November 2012 – The Ministry of Health indicated that application of solar energy has brought about positive impact in fostering quality of health service in Gash-Barka region.

Mr. Woldu Haileab from the Ministry indicated that it has been exerting endeavors to ensure sustainable energy supply to health institutions, and that solar energy facility has been put in place in the Regional Referral Hospital in Barentu to overcome instances of power shortage. Moreover, he called on the health personnel and patients to make judicious utilization of the facility.

Mr. Tedros Tekle, head of administration and finance in the hospital, said that better medical services would be rendered in line with the availability of such facility.

Reports indicate that similar facilities have been put in place in a number of health institutions in Asmara and Keren cities.
