Southern region: Health professionals called upon to play vital role in drug quality control

The Health Ministry’s branch in Southern region conducted a seminar at the Regional Referral Hospital in Mendefera highlighting the ways and means health professionals can enhance role as regards drug quality control. Mendefera, 5 November 2012 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Southern region conducted a seminar at the Regional Referral Hospital in Mendefera highlighting the ways and means health professionals can enhance role as regards drug quality control.

Mr. Abraham Yemane, head of the branch office, stressed the need to carry out scheduled inspections on private and government-owned pharmacies vis-à-vis efforts by health personnel towards ensuring reliable popular awareness regarding use of unprescribed medicines.

Dr. Samson Abai, pediatrician at the Regional Referral Hospital, called on the pertinent bodies to reinforce integrated endeavors in community sensitization to this end.

Among the participants, Mr. Fireminatos Misgina, a pharmacist, and Mr. Tesfom Beraki said that patients should adhere to prescriptions by physicians and consultation with pharmacists.
