Farms of martyrs’ families in Metera Administrative area harvested through popular undertaking

More than 1,000 High School students and civil servants in Metera Administrative area, Senafe sub-zone, carried out popular undertaking in collaboration with EDF members with a view to harvesting 300 farms that belong to families of fallen heroes and needy citizens. Senafe, 10 November 2012 – More than 1,000 High School students and civil servants in Metera Administrative area, Senafe sub-zone, carried out popular undertaking in collaboration with EDF members with a view to harvesting 300 farms that belong to families of fallen heroes and needy citizens.

Mr. Mehari Alazar, head of economic development in the sub-zone, indicated that similar initiatives are taken annually throughout the rain-fed farming process and commended the participants.

Mr. Habtish Teklebirhan, Acting head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, on his part elucidated that the undertaking was aimed at protecting harvest from undesirable rainfall through timely collection.

One of the beneficiaries, Rev. Ogbagabir Bahta voiced appreciation for the initiative. Among the participants, Kisanet Yemane and Mohammed Ferej aired out moral satisfaction with taking part in the undertaking.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that similar undertaking has been taken by more than 1,400 High School students in Emni-Haili sub-zone to harvest farms of martyrs’ families in the Administrative areas of Adi-Agua and Adi-Kodo. Out of the beneficiaries, Ms. Gidei Gebremedhin, Ms. Miliete Teklemariam and Mr. Abrihalei Gebremedhin expressed satisfaction with the timely collection of their harvest.
