Congress on youth issues hold in Gash-Barka region

Second congress on the need of coordination of Government and PFDJ institution on youth issues held in Barentu on 8 November. Barentu, 11 November 2012- Second congress on the need of coordination of Government and PFDJ institution on youth issues held in Barentu on 8 November.

During the congress study papers regarding the essentiality of coordination of Government and PFGJ institutions in strengthening the participation of youths on national and regional activities were presented.

Participants of the congress conducted extensive discussion on the study papers presented and deliberated important opinions that could help reinforce the program.

In a speech he delivered, Mr. Mohammed Hamid, Administrator of Gash-Barka region, indicated that the region would take as its main task guiding the youth to the right and constructive path and preserving and nurturing positive sides of the youth and that the resolutions and recommendations passed during the congress need follow-up for their implementation.

He further called on concerned institutions to work in coordination on issues of the youth.

Likewise, Mr. Sultan Seid, Chairperson of NUEYS, reminding the youth to reinforce participation in educational, sports, cultural as well as political and economic activities taking into consideration the comparative advantage of the region called on Government and PFDJ institutions to work in earnest charting out programs directed at youths. He further pointed out the importance of putting in place conducive atmosphere for the youth and encouraging them that they bequeath important social values.

During the congress resolutions and recommendations were passed regarding the need of conducting assessment meetings monthly on sub-zonal level and yearly on regional level, ensuring the availability of musical and other art instruments in every sub-zone for strengthening cultural activities,  establishing youth workers branches in all sub-zones,  putting in place educational, sports and health institutions at area administration level as well as the need of exerting efforts aimed at strengthening the participation of women.
