Potable water supply facility put in place in Adi-Bidel village

A solar-energy-powered potable water supply facility has been put in place in Adi-Bidel village, Central region, at an expenditure of 2.4 million Nakfa.

Asmara, 16 November 2012 – A solar-energy-powered potable water supply facility has been put in place in Adi-Bidel village, Central region, at an expenditure of 2.4 million Nakfa.

Mr. Yemane Abai, head of economic development in the Central region, indicated that the facility comprises 2 wells, 2.6 Km-long pipes and a 50 cubic meters-wide reservoir, in addition to 16 solar panels generating 2.8 KW.

Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, Administrator of the Central region, inaugurated the facility today, during which he pointed out that the government has been exerting endeavors towards promoting rural development. He further called on the inhabitants of the village to utilize the facility prudently.

Among the inhabitants, Ms. Tekea Gide and Ms. Kibra Teklisenbet said that they used to travel for four hours to fetch water, and voiced satisfaction with the availability of potable water within the center of the village.

Adi-Bidel village is located 33 Km from Asmara city.
