Developmental activities in Hagaz sub-zone expressed contributing in improving the livelihood of farmers

The developmental activities being conducted in Hagaz sub-zone are contributing to the improvement of livelihood of farmers and in ensuring food security, Mr. Jabir Ibrahim, head of Ministry of Agriculture branch, expressed. Hagaz, 18 November 2012- The developmental activities being conducted in Hagaz sub-zone are contributing to the improvement of livelihood of farmers and in ensuring food security, Mr. Jabir Ibrahim, head of Ministry of Agriculture branch, expressed.

He indicated that the developmental activities include preservation of livestock resources, soil conservation, as well as establishment of diary and farming associations and that so far 78 hectares of vegetables, 73 hectares of fruits as well as around 30 hectares of green animal feed have been cultivated.

He further said that comparing to that of last years the health of livestock and grazing area are in good condition and reminded owners to follow advises from experts for the health of their animals.

The farmers on their part indicated that due to the activities they conducted on water and soils conservation campaigns they have achieved commendable result and that they would reinforce their activities.
Documents from the Ministry of Agriculture indicate that currently there are 90 water wells and several micro-dams in the sub-zone.
