Eritrean nationals residing in the Republic of South Sudan conducted a seminar regarding investment prospects and the objective situation in the Homeland.

Asmara, 20 November 2012 – Eritrean nationals residing in the Republic of South Sudan conducted a seminar regarding investment prospects and the objective situation in the Homeland.

Heading the seminar, Mr. Girmai Gebremariam, the Eritrean Ambassaodr to South Sudan, indicated that the Eritrean government is laying the groundwork for investment opportunities for nationals. He further gave extensive briefings as regards the national development strategies, potential investment opportunities and the laid infrastructure facilities, besides the role of citizen investors in the nation’s development drive.

Moreover, Ambassador Girmai asserted that Eri-Tel and the National Insurance Corporation of Eritrea have decided to sell shares, and that an agency that would follow the sales of such shares would be established on the basis of a proclamation. He also disclosed that several investment proposals have already been submitted.

Besides, the Ambassador elucidated that the Eritrean government is conducting discussions with neighboring countries with a view to solving the prevailing mobility problems of citizens, and that positive feedbacks have been obtained to this end. Strengthening the community’s capacity is vital in this case and the Embassy is ready to collaborate with members in this regard, he added.
