Reports indicated that 200 cataract patients in the Southern region have been cured through voluntary and joint surgical campaign by the Ministry of Health and a surgical crew from Al-Beser, an international medical institution. Mendefera, 20 November 2012 – Reports indicated that 200 cataract patients in the Southern region have been cured through voluntary and joint surgical campaign by the Ministry of Health and a surgical crew from Al-Beser, an international medical institution.
Among the beneficiaries, Mr. Menqerios Ogbasilasie, Ms. Jim’a Ahmed Ali and Ms. Lemlem Meharena expressed appreciation for the free medical service that was rendered at the regional Referral Hospital in Mendefera town.
Dr. Alem Zecarias, coordinator of the campaign, explained that more than 600 other nationals have also become beneficiaries of free diagnosis and prescribed remedies such as medications and eye glasses.
The Coordinator of the medical crew from Al-Beser, Dr. Muhaned Khemaleddin, told Erina that this is their 5th visit to Eritrea, and commended the collaborative manner of fellow Eritrean professionals and the people’s hospitality.
He further pointed out that they have also conducted similar campaign in Asmara, thus curing 270 citizens, 20 of whom are children below 7.
