Keren, 28 November 2012 – The NUEW’s branch in Anseba region indicated that it would step up endeavors towards improving the livelihood of needy members.
Ms. Aisha Ali Nor, head of the branch office, explained that the Union extended a total of 1 million Nakfa loan for 223 needy women, and that the scheme has made a positive impact. She further disclosed that 80 others would become beneficiaries.
Reports indicate that breadwinner women who were rehabilitated in livestock and farming supplies over the past years in the region have witnessed improvement of livelihood, thus playing remarkable role in endeavors to ensure food security in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, the Union has been engaged in community sensitization activities targeting child and mother health, antenatal care, adult education, communicable diseases, childhood marriage, FGM, and other harmful customary practices.
Ms. Aisha called on the members to extend a helping hand as regards raising awareness of young women regarding the Union.
