The ownership of Mai-shim Integrated Dairy Farming Company has been transferred to the inhabitants of Korbaria village, Dekemhare sub-zone. The farm which is situated on 101 hectares and comprising 60 cattle, as well as the necessary infrastructures, was established through joint collaboration between the Southern regional Administration, the Agriculture Ministry and the inhabitants, according to reports.
Mendefera, 30 November 2012 – The ownership of Mai-shim Integrated Dairy Farming Company has been transferred to the inhabitants of Korbaria village, Dekemhare sub-zone. The farm which is situated on 101 hectares and comprising 60 cattle, as well as the necessary infrastructures, was established through joint collaboration between the Southern regional Administration, the Agriculture Ministry and the inhabitants, according to reports.
During the handover ceremony, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture, pointed out that the government has been exerting endeavors towards improving the people’s standard of living, and called on the inhabitants to integrate their resources and establish strong managing body so as to ensure better output of the farm. He also asserted that the Ministry would continue to extend technical and professional support to them.
Among the inhabitants, Dr. Teklemariam Zegu, Haji Ibrahim Siraj, Mr. Rezene Gebremeskel and Ms. Letenigus Bekure explained that the transfer of ownership entails the shouldering of loftier responsibility of production, and asserted that they would step up efforts towards the realization of the cherished goal. They also commended the government for ensuring such opportunity for the community.
Furthermore, Mr. Mustafa Nur-Hussein, Administrator of the Southern region, said that the Administration would enhance collaboration with the inhabitants of Korbaria in line with its strategy of boosting milk production.
