Hagaz sub-zone witnessing positive impact regarding community health: Report

The Administration of Hagaz sub-zone indicated that it has registered remarkable accomplishment in promoting community health.

Hagaz, 3 December 2012 – The Administration of Hagaz sub-zone indicated that it has registered remarkable accomplishment in promoting community health.

Mr. Gebremeskel Gebrehiwet, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, explained that it has been enhancing endeavors as regards mother and child care, environmental hygiene and prevention of communicable diseases such as malaria, and that 19 villages in the locality have fully become beneficiaries of latrines.

The sub-zone is reportedly witnessing expanding capacity of health institutions and growing community awareness on health issues vis-à-vis application of solar energy facility in health stations. Accordingly, the number of maternal admission and child immunization outreach is on the rise, while instance of malaria infection has further been reduced by 11%.

One of the inhabitants, Ms. Semira Mohammed, said that community health is in the process of being ameliorated in line with the growing public awareness to this end.
