Asmara, 5 December 2012 – The Administration of the Central region indicated that the Environmental Sanitation Week which was conducted last month was effective. It made the statement at an assessment meeting conducted yesterday at City Hall.
Accordingly, more than 120,000-strong manpower participated in the campaign, besides various machineries, and thus giving rise to the collection of over 2,000 tons of trash. Moreover, Mr. Berhane Negash, head of social service in the region, pointed out that scrapped cars were also moved to a reserved dumping site.
The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, lauded the active participation of the inhabitants, and said that the event would be organized in regular basis.
The participants of the meeting on their part called for enhanced stakeholder participation in such events, as well as the deployment of more equipment and facilitation of dumping process.
