Demas elementary school upgraded to junior level

Parents and students expressed that the upgrading of the elementary school to junior level in Demas administrative area, Ghinda sub-zone, has alleviated the problem of school continuation of students in general and females in particular.

Ghinda, 9 December 2012- Parents and students expressed that the upgrading of the elementary school to junior level in Demas administrative area, Ghinda sub-zone, has alleviated the problem of school continuation of students in general and females in particular.

8th grade students Afrah Ali and Humed Idris explained that for there was no junior school in their village they were forced to travel long way to Gahtelai and that their problem is solved with the upgrading of the school to junior level.

Student Saedia Talke on her part said that she was forced to live in Ghinda separated from her parents in order to continue her education and that with the upgrading of the school she has been able to stay with her parents and continue her education without difficulty.

From parents, Ms. Sa’adia Ali and Ms. Hawa Idris commended the effort conducted to enable their children continue schooling staying at home with their parents.

Mr. Abraham Gebrekristos, director of the school, indicated that it was very challenging for students and especially for the females to continue education separated from their parents and that many were forced to quit education due to lack of junior school and to date the problem is solved.
