Potable water supply facilities bring about positive impact in the livelihood of Southern Red Sea region inhabitants: Report

The inhabitants of various sub-zones in the Southern Red Sea region said that their livelihood has by and large been improved following the putting in place of potable water supply facilities this year.

Assab, 20 December 2012 – The inhabitants of various sub-zones in the Southern Red Sea region said that their livelihood has by and large been improved following the putting in place of potable water supply facilities this year.

Accordingly, the villages of Alalie, Afambo, Beilul, Abe, Bel’ebui, Debaisima, Mekanat, Asagala, Kiloma and others have become beneficiaries of potable water supply over the past six months alone, thus giving impetus to irrigation farming.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants expressed satisfaction with the commendable health, educational and transport services being rendered there. Reports indicate that the number of schools has increased by 87% in the region over the past two decades, and integrated endeavors are being exerted to ensure equivalent growth pertaining to participation of children in education.

The inhabitants stated that they would practice prudent utilization of the available social service facilities.
