Workshop conducts in Massawa to assess capacity of students

A workshop was conducted in Massawa aimed at assessing the capacity of students in the region and finding ways in which students preparing for the junior high school exams in general and eighth grades in particular could reinforce capacity. Massawa, 23 December 2012- A workshop was conducted in Massawa aimed at assessing the capacity of students in the region and finding ways in which students preparing for the junior high school exams in general and eighth grades in particular could reinforce capacity.

The workshop in which heads of MOE branch offices, directors as well as supervisors from Massawa, Gelalo, Shi’eb, Ginda and Foro sub-zones participated was aimed at overseeing the preparation being made for the 2012/2013 eighth grade national exam. Study papers were also presented regarding problems observed on the part of teachers and parents.

With the study papers the importance of tripartite relationship between students, teachers and parents in nurturing outstanding students was stressed.

The participants passed recommendation including that the academic support for eighth grade students to begin from grade six, to properly assess the outcome of the support, parents to be openly informed the results of their children as well as the need of preparing exams for eighth grade students similar to that of national exam so that they acquaint themselves with the papers.

Mr. Tesfai Tekle, Director General of Social Services in the region, explained that student’s school enrollment in general and that of female students in particular is increasing and called on teachers, students, directors and parents to reinforce contribution.
