Barentu, 28 December 2012 – The Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom, said that societal role is a major prerequisite in ensuring equitable and standardized educational service. He made the remark at a seminar he conducted with teachers and members of Gash-Barka regional Administration at Barentu city, in which it was stated that challenges related to the implementation of educational programs should be addressed in a manner that involves popular participation.
The Minister further gave detailed briefings on various issues regarding the education sector, and pointed out that the expanding outreach of schools in rural areas has given impetus to the breakthrough towards ensuring equitability of educational services. He further indicated that the Ministry is exerting efforts with a view to promoting educational values, upgrading the capacity of teachers and supervisors, expanding information technology and communications facilities as well as reinforcement of colleges, among others.The participants of the seminar put forth views pertaining to various issues.
In concluding remarks, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Hamd Mohammed, explained that it would enhance endeavors towards promoting the sector’s impact.
