The Administration of the Central region indicated that it implemented various development programs this year at a total expenditure of 376 million Nakfa with a view to improving the inhabitants’ livelihood.
Asmara, 31 December 2012 – The Administration of the Central region indicated that it implemented various development programs this year at a total expenditure of 376 million Nakfa with a view to improving the inhabitants’ livelihood. It made the statement at an assessment meeting in which the regional Administrator, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, indicated that the accomplishment registered is a groundwork for bright future and called for enhancement of integrated endeavors.
Accordingly, implementation of 8 potable water supply projects has been finalized while that of 11 others is underway. Furthermore, fog harvesting and fishery activities in dams have become promising, besides the construction of dams and micro-dams, as well as the laying of irrigational infrastructures.
Reports indicated that 8 Elementary Schools have been opened while 3 others were upgraded to junior level, and that adult education has gained momentum. Efforts are also being made to solve technical problems as regards distribution of potable water.
Moreover, land plots have been distributed to 70 garage owners in the environs of Asmara, which move on the part of such institutions would have positive impact in ensuring environmental hygiene in the city. Similar measures would also be taken pertaining to brick factories and animal farms following the finalization of the necessary study, reports added.
