NUEW members in Central and Southern regions demonstrate improvement of livelihood based on loan

The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) indicated that a number of members in the Central and Southern regions are in a position to demonstrate improvement of livelihood on the basis of loan. It made the statement at assessment meetings conducted in Mendefera city and Zagir village. Mendefera, 1 January 2013 – The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) indicated that a number of members in the Central and Southern regions are in a position to demonstrate improvement of livelihood on the basis of loan. It made the statement at assessment meetings conducted in Mendefera city and Zagir village.

Accordingly, a number of women have become beneficiaries of about 2.5 million Nakfa in the Central region, while training as regards weaving was organized and saddle-animals extended to needy members. Furthermore, adult education has made positive impact and more than 27,000 families have resorted to the energy-conserving wood stove Adhanet. Ms. Tekh’a Tesfamichael, head of the NUEW branch in the Central region called on members to get prepared for the implementation programs pertaining to the New Year.

Ms. Saliha Adem, head of the NUEW branch in the Southern region, on her part pointed out that last year’s accomplishments focused in organizing youth members, the nurturing of political awareness and raising members’ level of income on the basis of loan amounting to over 2 million Nakfa.

In closing remarks, the Chairperson of the NUEW, Ms. Leul Gebreab, said that it has registered remarkable achievements, and that more endeavors should be exerted to attain still more gratifying outcome. She further called for reinforcement of proper scrutiny in assessments.
