Southern region: Implementation process of 2012 programs described effective

The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nur-Hussein, said that the implementation process of 2012 programs was effective.

Mendefera, 4 January 2013 – The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nur-Hussein, said that the implementation process of 2012 programs was effective. He made the remark at an assessment meeting during which it was stated that the role of the inhabitants and stakeholders was remarkable in the implementation of development, infrastructure and social service programs.

Accordingly, a total of 780 Km-long dirt roads were renovated and terraces were constructed on 28 hectares through popular undertakings, besides land preparation activities conducted on 100 hectares. Furthermore, popular awareness as regards health and education is on the rise, thus leading to the regional Administration’s further attention in this regard.

The participants of the meeting on their part said that they would enhance collaboration in national endeavors towards improving peoples’ livelihood and ensuring economic growth. They further called on the inhabitants to sustain initiatives for community-based ventures.

Moreover, the regional Administrator disclosed that programs set for implementation in the region comprise distribution of select wheat and maize seeds, introduction of temperate fruits, opening milk packaging factories, construction of dams and introduction of drip irrigation techniques in various areas.
