Anseba region: Call made for enhancement of women’s role in prevention of crime

The Prosecutorial Office in the Anseba region has called on women to enhance their role in the prevention and control of crime. It made the call at a seminar conducted with a number of women civil servants with a view to raise their awareness as regards community role in various legal issues. Keren, 13 January 2013 – The Prosecutorial Office in the Anseba region has called on women to enhance their role in the prevention and control of crime. It made the call at a seminar conducted with a number of women civil servants with a view to raise their awareness as regards community role in various legal issues.

Pointing out that lack of awareness does not serve as an excuse in any legal process, Mr. Amanuel Tesfai, Prosecutor General in Anseba region, explained that the supremacy of law can be ensured only through exposing of criminal acts and legal proceedings against them. He further indicated that women’s role is crucial to this end.

Likewise, Ms. Asha Ali-Nur, the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW)’s branch head in the region, called on the members and pertinent bodies to step up integrated endeavors as regards the nurturing and popularization of cultural values among youths.

The participants of the seminar said that they would do their level best in this regard, and called for enhancement of school activities and media influence in the process.
