NUEW Assembly to enhance organizational impact targeting youth members

The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW)’s Assembly indicated that it would enhance organizational impact targeting youth members. It made the statement at its annual meeting conducted last week in Embatkala semi-urban center.

Asmara, 14 January 2013 – The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW)’s Assembly indicated that it would enhance organizational impact targeting youth members. It made the statement at its annual meeting conducted last week in Embatkala semi-urban center.

NUEW’s Chairperson, Ms. Le’ul Gebreab, presented a report as regards the Union’s accomplishments in 2012, and the participants conducted in-depth discussion pertaining to various issues. The discussion targeted ways and means of reinforcing organizational framework, especially aiming at youth members, human resource development, fostering promotional activities, enhancing women’s participation in regular education and adult education, as well as promoting financial capability of members, among others.

Moreover, the Assembly members noted the need for giving added impetus to the integrated endeavors being exerted regarding mother and child care, besides educating women so as to ensure more gratifying outcome. They also pointed out that more efforts should be exerted towards combating harmful customary practices such as childhood marriage.

Moreover, the Assembly exchanged views pertaining to various issues and adopted action programs for 2013.
