Inhabitants of Debarwa sub-zone back up government endeavors regarding education

The inhabitants of Debarwa sub-zone have constructed an Elementary school in Mai-Dima village and expanded the accommodation of 9 schools through contributing a total of 1.6 million Nakfa and mobilizing their labor resource.

Debarwa, 25 January 2013 – The inhabitants of Debarwa sub-zone have constructed an Elementary school in Mai-Dima village and expanded the accommodation of 9 schools through contributing a total of 1.6 million Nakfa and mobilizing their labor resource. The report was made in connection with an assessment meeting conducted in Debarwa town during which it was stated that community ventures have given added impetus to the national development drive.

Meanwhile, reports presented at the meeting indicated that a total of 748 residential land plots were distributed in 7 villages last year on the basis of tiesa land tenure system, while a 51 hectare-wide integrated irrigation farm was launched. Moreover crop, vegetables, fruits, poultry, dairy and honey production is gaining momentum.

Ms. Le’ul Asrat, Administrator of Debarwa sub-zone, disclosed that future undertakings would target construction of a dam, in addition to the launching of a campaign as regards construction of soak-pit latrines. She also called on the inhabitants to step up participation in this regard.
