Administration of Areza sub-zone to step up efforts in combating diseases resulting from lack of hygiene
The Administration of Areza sub-zone indicated that it would step up efforts as regards combating diseases resulting from lack of hygiene.
Areza, 11 February 2013 – The Administration of Areza sub-zone indicated that it would step up efforts as regards combating diseases resulting from lack of hygiene. It made the statement in connection with promotional activities conducted in Adi-Biyani, Adi-Gurdi and Tsetserat villages.
Mr. Gidei Estifanos, head of Administration and Finance in the sub-zonal Administration, pointed out that the inhabitants of the three villages play crucial role to this end, and called on the local inhabitants to promote environmental hygiene through reinforcing community-based initiatives. Moreover, public toilets built by the inhabitants of the three villages became functional.
One of the inhabitants, Ms. Miliete Alai said that the community’s wellbeing has by and large shown improvement following resort to soak-pit toilets, and commended the government’s commitment in this regard.
Mr. Esaias Araya from the Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern region disclosed that environmental hygiene is among its priorities for the year 2013, and said that the role of the inhabitants has become vital in the process.
