A total of 14 families of martyrs residing in the port city of Massawa have been rehabilitated on the basis of business establishments.
Massawa, 14 February 2013 – A total of 14 families of martyrs residing in the port city of Massawa have been rehabilitated on the basis of business establishments. Speaking during the handover session, Ms. Fana Tesfamariam, Mayor of Massawa, indicated that the mode of rehabilitation was chosen pursuing its merits of sustainability and relevance to the lifestyle of beneficiaries, which process was made possible through the intervention of a community-elected committee. She also disclosed that more families of fallen heroes would become beneficiaries of such support.
Among the beneficiaries, Mr. Mohammed-Nur Mentai, Ms. Nebiat Tekie, Ms. Fatina Abdu, Mr. Berhane Dimtsu and Ms. Semainesh Gebremariam expressed satisfaction with the support being extended to them by the government and fellow citizens, and called on the city Administration to sustain its advisory help as regards managing their businesses.
Mr. Hamd Gebr and Mr. Mohammed Zekeri, members of the rehabilitation committee, said that such venture gives rise to moral satisfaction. They further pointed out that additional endeavors would be exerted to rehabilitate more families of martyrs in the port city, and called on fellow inhabitants to extend a helping hand in the process.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that employees of the Marine Resource Ministry would extend boats and fishing equipment to 4 families of fallen heroes in collaboration with members of the Naval Force.
