Asmara, 22 February 2013 – Reports indicated that the introduction of energy-conserving stove Adhanet gained momentum in the Central region this year.
Ms. Rishan Kidane from the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Serejeqa sub-zone pointed out that the program is being implemented in collaboration with the NUEW with a view to ensuring extensive adoption of the smokeless stove, and that around 7,000 families have already become its beneficiaries.
Likewise, Ms. Azeb Mehari from the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Berikh sub-zone disclosed that 80% of the venture has been fulfilled in the locality, and lauded the active role of the NUEW and Area administrators in the process.
Stating that the stove’s importance in promoting the health of mothers vis-à-vis the environment, Ms. Nigisti Yemane, Administrator of Tsaeda-Kristian Administrative area, and Ms. Alganesh Andemichael, Administrator of Emba-Derho Administrative area, expressed readiness to sustain their efforts to this end.
Among the inhabitants, Ms. Fireweini Abraham, Ms. Letebirhan Teklehaimanot and Ms. Lemlem Habtesilasie voiced satisfaction with becoming beneficiaries of the Adhanet stove.
