Administrator of Central region calls for integrated endeavors regarding implementation of development programs
The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, has called for reinforcement of integrated endeavors on the part of government bodies and communities as regards implementation of the development programs for 2013. Asmara, 1 March 2013 – The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, has called for reinforcement of integrated endeavors on the part of government bodies and communities as regards implementation of the development programs for 2013. He made the call at a meeting he conducted with branch heads in line ministries and community representatives, during which he gave detailed briefings regarding the programs set for implementation this year.
The programs pertain to conservation of natural resources, soil and water conservation, establishment of Green Clubs, construction and renovation of dams, decorating some areas in the capital city, as well as agricultural production such as apicultural, meat, poultry, dairy, vegetables and fruits. Endeavors would also be exerted to begin fish production in 12 dams in the region and promote domestic tourism.
Accordingly, the construction of various roads has already begun within Asmara, besides 9 potable water supply projects, the putting in place of which is due to get underway shortly. The regional Administrator further called for stepped up efforts targeting enhancement of the impact of adult education in the villages along the Eastern Escarpment. Moreover, 3 new schools would be constructed, in addition to the renovation of 12 others.
The participants of the meeting put forth views regarding several issues, and reports as well as guidelines were presented as regards forestry control.
