The inhabitants of Habero-Tsaeda Administrative area, Habero sub-zone, said that a dam in the locality is making remarkable input in ensuring potable water supply.
Habero, 1 March 2013 – The inhabitants of Habero-Tsaeda Administrative area, Habero sub-zone, said that a dam in the locality is making remarkable input in ensuring potable water supply. They further expressed readiness to extend a helping hand towards ensuring food security in the area on the basis of prudent utilization of the water resource.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Hamd Mohammed-Omar and Ms. Amna Mohammed-Idris explained that the dam’s water catchment has enriched water resources in the locality.
Moreover, Mr. Mohammed Adem Abdalla, Administrator of Habero-Tselim Administrative area, indicated that the local inhabitants are in a position to engage in irrigation farming thanks to the amount of water the dam had impounded. He also pointed out that they are constructing terraces and water catchment infrastructures in its surrounding with a view to avoiding sedimentary deposit.
Mr. Girmatsion Kesete, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Habero sub-zone, disclosed that the inhabitants had played active role in the construction of the dam, the location of which is said to be strategic.
