Barentu, 5 March 2013 – The Administration of Barentu sub-zone indicated that it would back up community initiatives with a view to registering more gratifying development accomplishments. It made the statement at a meeting during which it was stated that remarkable achievements have been registered as regards promotion of community-based style of living, extending support to families of martyrs and reinforcement as well as follow-up of social service facilities in collaboration with the inhabitants.
Mr. Franco Kubaba, the sub-zonal Administrator, indicated that a total of 210,000 Nakfa, which was extended by the inhabitants, was paid to families of fallen heroes, while a number of families started living as a community in Kerkasha and Taikanaba areas. He further disclosed that a new community magistrate was opened in Barentu city, and that more than 1.3 million Nakfa was donated by the inhabitants supporting the EDF members and teachers.
Accordingly, a noteworthy soil and water conservation that involved more than 24,000 manpower was conducted, and such initiative is expected to continue at increased pace.
Moreover, the local Administrator noted the programs set for implementation this year, and the participants put forth views pertaining to various issues.
