Ambassador Saleh Omar presents credentials to Zimbabwean leader

Mr. Saleh Omar, the Eritrean Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and the Southern Africa region, has been appointed as Eritrea’s roving Ambassador to Zimbabwe and presented his credentials to President Robert Mugabe.

Asmara, 6 March 2013 – Mr. Saleh Omar, the Eritrean Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and the Southern Africa region, has been appointed as Eritrea’s roving Ambassador to Zimbabwe and presented his credentials to President Robert Mugabe.

During the presentation ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed President Isaias Afwerki’s goodwill to the Zimbabwean President, and indicated that the people of both countries share similar experience in their armed struggle for independence. He further expressed Eritrea’s readiness to develop bilateral ties with Zimbabwe through fostering collaboration in various domains.

In the same vein, President Mugabe wished President Isaias good health and peace as well as prosperity to the Eritrean people, and pointed out that his country is exerting stepped-up endeavors as regards promoting peace and stability in Africa. He also noted the need for both countries to enhance efforts in reinforcing Eritrean-Zimbabwean relations, and assured his readiness to collaborate with Ambassador Saleh.

During his stay in the country, the Eritrean Ambassador held talks with Zimbabwean officials regarding various issues and collaboration domains of interest to both countries, reports indicated.

Moreover, Ambassador Saleh conducted seminar to the Eritrean community members in Zimbabwe and gave detailed briefings on the objective situation in the Homeland. The Eritrean nationals voiced readiness to enhance participation in State affairs.
